I love art! I have loved the smell of a box of crayons since I was little, and still get excited when the stores are packed with supplies for back-to-school. I have done just about every art and craft project known. In the 80's I worked in polymer clay, friendly plastic and beading. I did some demos for Amaco Co. in Indianapolis and made jewelry for the Indy 500 Race wives and fans. I was the only one making checkered and colored flag jewelry. I fell into a whirlwind of work and was successful. It only takes one idea!
But.....just as we moved into my "dream" house, my husband got a new job in Phoenix, Arizona. So, we moved and I love the southwest! Its especially nice to be near Tucson when the International Gem and Mineral Show comes each January! I have beaded over 30 years, and learned bead weaving from the Ojibwa and Chippewah Native Americans in Wisconsin. Each year we spent vacations at the family cabin and I had the opportunity to take classes with these women. It is an experience I am grateful for.
I am now drawing more and enjoy teaching others to draw and doodle as well. I have recently been enjoying visual journaling and altered books. I am working on one now with "children" as a theme. I love abstract drawings, whimsical doodles with a special floral flair, and black & white art. Please check my gallery to see some of my work. I have just retired from teaching 3-5 yr olds for 20 years and now am teaching adults! Nothing is as pleasing as having a student leave my class inspired and ready to create their own art!
I am blessed to have a wonderful husband, Dan, who has put up with every adventure I've gone on. I have three grown children and now I am a Nana to a sweet little girl for the first time this July! ('16).
I hope to see you in one of my workshops or classes.
Make time for your art, it's important.
